Get it Straight! You Only Have One Chance to Make a First Impression

We all know first impressions are important, but how much of a role does a straight smile play? Apparently, teeth straightening is very important. About one-fourth of people say the thing they notice and remember most after meeting someone new is the smile.

According to studies conducted by Wakefield Research, commissioned by the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) and Kelton Research, more than 30 percent of American adults are unhappy with their smiles. This research is especially true among young adults 18 to 24 who have untagged themselves on Facebook because they do not like their smiles.

In both studies, as much as 36 percent of people surveyed believe that people with straight teeth are perceived to be more successful, more intelligent, and more healthy, as well as have a better social life and a better personality. In fact, almost half believe that someone with straight teeth is more likely to get a competitive job.

In contrast, 38 percent won’t go on a second date with someone with crooked teeth, but 73 percent of people are more likely to trust someone with straight teeth.
